C. C. BUEL,
John Muir Esq.
.Martinez, California .
You doubtless know today that our friend Irish has failed to get the Land Commissionership. He is now saying that he did not want it, and is asking for something at home,-probably the San Francisco Collectorship. If California wants him she ought to have him. Heine said: "Every country has the Jews it deserves", and we would not rob California for the world.
One of your recent notes to me helped to the business.
