David will tell you all about it "The little Mitchells" what a sorrowful affectionate group, and the poor [mother?] may the Eternal Father who alone knows the strength of all this woe, be always near them and lead them. Death never forgets, Is he far from us May we "be ready" it was with no little interest that I saw your Davids signature on [illegible] I thank you for this book and mark the last time I was in a book store I read perhaps an hour in this same book and thought if I was sick I would buy it; here is a bible which I often thought of sending you I bought it in Pr du Chin but I have another reference one and Maggie's besides, [see that you?] wear it well As for home when Dan was telling me about you all I thought I must go but I think I shall endeavor to persuade myself to stay especially as

this term is so near and I do not know indeed whether I shall be home after the term is out or not but it is likely I shall take the next good opportunity in the meantime I can advise you to be a good girl and kiss your little [beloveds'?] for me and endeavor earnestly to make your man less bashful at least as much so as shall enable him to eat though from home I do not full pe[illegible] about you [illegible] having put my name on the book right or wrong I intend to draw you a pic someday :here is one for Maggie poor girl. you know she wearys some times I slept a wee hair too long and was at Mitchells a few minutes too late I saw the wagon stait though
