saw column of smoke [200] ft [feet] high 30 or 40 dia [diameter] steam as from exhaust of engine.

2 yds [yards] dia [diameter] pool clear greenish blue water on N side at least 8 or 10 ft [feet] deep.

Numerous small vents around edge emitting steam & mud, with a few larger in wh [which] the water is heard [ ] & surging.

In the pool babbling & sputtering of countless small vents is mingled with heavy labored

[swashing] & gurgling of larger—

In many places the ground is warm in vicinity as indicated by the absence of snow

The geyser is sit [situated] at base of lava ridge is on arm of Long val [valley].

Aft of Long v [valley] 7600 at head—is the path & meeting place of vast quantity of gls [glaciers] flowing S mors [moraines] & side val [valley]
