Lava stratified here on Lava Terrace at Round val [valley]. Pines breezy & long tasseled [tasseled] first appear in forest
Round val [valley] seems to be lake formed by dam of lava.
View [very] [fine] looking South

[Sqs] climb mts [mountains] for such
on head of Big Pine crk [creek] 3 gls [glaciers] visible from vil [village]
On head of Bishop crk [creek] several gls [glaciers] visible
on head of crk [creek] about [Abbot] 2 or 3
Finest & largest & most abundant gls [glaciers] about Ritter & [Minarets]
had noble view of Ritter group from arm of long valley in the morning after [ ]  4th or 5th Oct
