[four streams separated by Fall of braided] Fall composed of four strip of White foamed water into wh [which] the stream is separated by sharp rock edges & these four strip are [braided] plaited together into a flat braid 30 Aug [August] W [West] basin [rim] of Ill [Illilouette] in white light & clouds rising from the [ground] like [spring] trees hide & divide it into forms of beauty too tender too exquisite for expression by words of English birth

Aug [August] 30 PM Notch on stake No 2 brought in line with top of No [1] Strikes moraine middle of big boulder [sketch] or runs to right of small [bou] stone in front of said boulder shaped thus [sketch] Top of No 3 & of No 2 & a point on No 3 1 foot below top, in line T [Top] of No 3 & bottom of No 4 in line with boulder
