Silky lvd & hairy Eriogonum [common name: buckwheats] v ab in old meads just coming into flr in full massy bloom sulphur yel in 3 weeks Big Yel mimulus by streams.

Tiny dwarf Eriog. & mousetail ivesia at summit with big exuberant clump of glandular polemonium [common name:Jacob’s ladder] the latter & ivesia in full bloom also [huloca]. The whole a glorious garden tho at little distance a gray savage desert.

The view grand & most striking. Ritter, Lyell, Maclure & all Cathedral & Merced groups – Hoff & dome dam of Tuol. Dana Gibbs Warren & numerous pks to N. a broad swath
