Clover, trientalis blue curls. Meadow & rim of trees all around best of conifers of sierra in one view. best preserved portion of sierra forest 40 yrs in possession of Mr. [Sperry]. Fall of light flecks & lrg [large] patches & filtery thro lvs [leaves] ah-ing without leaf stirring. Libo best [recovers] from sheep biting. Many killed no seedling escapes, some 30 yrs old Recovered & shot up good head from bitten tufted portion 10.20 more [or] [less] yrs old to height of 8 or 10 feet [Sketch]
