Wh [which] from here in straight line is only about 6 miles away Went ashore on large granite island & gleaned a little fossil wood with wh [which] made tea on the ice. Eyes feel better 10th Day. July 20. Kept wet bandage on eyes last night as

long as I could. Feel better this morning but all the mtns [mountains] seem to have double summits giving a curiously unreal aspect to the landscape. Packed everything on to sled & moved 3 miles farther down the gl [glacier] where I want to make measurements. Visited on the ice by hummingbird twice today. Attracted by red lining of sleeping bag [bear skin & by blanket]. Also at other camp & on [forest]
