Rose Cottage,Woodbush,Dunbar.31-8-14.Mr. Muir,Dear Sir,Thanks very much for your lovely book- "The Mountains of California" which I received the other day. It is very kind of you indeed to send me it and I appreciate it very much. The Book is nicely illustrated and on glancing through it I see it will interest me greatly. I am just going to start now and read it over. Is'nt this a dreadful war?Our old Town of Dunbar is very busy, it is a Cavalry Depot and Reserves & recruits for various regiments are mobilized here and sent to the front, over 3,000 men have been passed through Dunbar Depot already and recruits for Kitchener's army are arriving05832
