Helen [Muir Funk]
Home, Jan. 12, 1914Darling Helen. How are you now? I always think of you, especially in black foggy rainy lung-choking weather, This day is one of the darkest of the melancholy winter, How the rain pours & the Alhambra Creek roars after being silent for 3 years I'm so glad these storms don't reach your desert.Ive been grippe-choked several weeks but am getting better by keeping close to my den fire. I hope you got some grocery odds & ends I ordered a week or two ago.Ever your devoted fatherJohn MuirWhen you want anything let me know
