Ninth Judicial Circuit.Judges' Chambers,San Francisco, California.October 6, 1914.Dr. John Muir,Martinez, California,My dear Doctor:-I take the liberty of sending you by mail a book written for private circulation by my friend Mr. Graves of Los Angeles, containing his out-door experiences. Mr. Graves is an old friend who went to Los Angeles as a lawyer many years ago. He was successful professionally and accumulated considerable property. He is now President of the Farmers' and Merchants' Bank of Los Angeles. He has always been a great lover of nature, and recently wrote the book I am sending you, as I have already stated for private circulation. There are several articles that may be of interest to you, but it occurred to me that you might be particularly interested in his interview with an educated Indian near Klamath Lake.
