2727 Dwight Way,Berkeley Cal.,Dec. 23, 1910. My dear Mr. Muir: It seems a long time since I have seen you or even heard directly from you, but I have been very happy to learn that you have done a great amount of writing of late. The world will surely be richer for your beautiful and sympathetic portrayal of nature in this glorious Pacific region, and it is good to know that your writing is progressing so well. I have decided that I ought to get out into the world of men for a time, and as soon as I can find the means to take me shall be off for New York of'London, leaving the children in Mrs. Bunnell's care here in Berkeley. A plan is now pending which may make this possible, but it if fails I shall find some other way to go. It is now fourteen years since I have been east, and it seems time for me to get in touch with things at the great centers. I hope you are very well now, and that you may have a very happy Christmas. May the new year be one of continued activity in your literary work. I think of you very often and of all the happy times we have had together in mountain and forest. With love and Christmas greetings from all my household. Affectionately your friend, Charles Keeler0491
