After coming home I gave lectures - on travel
This year [ ] I went to Africa collecting animals for the Agassiz Museum Cambridge, and am now to write up my material of years standing
Please let me know when you are coming east again so I may see you.

This letter is really to introduce to you a very good friend of mine. Miss Mabel [Gage] I have told her to be sure and meet you if possible and I know you can tell her much that will make her stay in California very interesting.
