40[First draft of letter, in note-book][Jan. 22, '05]Dear Mr. Abbott:Your kind letter was received in due time, and I hope you have received my reply ere this. I kept no copy of my letter, but the substance of it was about as follows: "I am now writing a book on Yosemite, and until I get this off my hands it is not likely that I will be able to write any magazine articles. Still I will keep your request in mind, and If I should happen to find anything suitable I shall be glad to send it."A trip with you in the mountains would be delightful, and when next you come to this side of the continent come to my house and let me take you to one of my best Outlooks."Faithfully yours,[John Muir]03098
