[letterhead]CHICAGO Jany 12, 1904Our dear friend Muir-Our last word from you, which reached us in November, was from Vladovostok dated Aug 19th We were delighted to get the letter, but while it gave us so good an idea of the wonders you were seeing, it worried us that you were working so hard. I have traced your journey, as far as you give it, with much interest, and tried to imagine how much you must have enjoyed the crossing of the great caucassus range- Am anxious to hear you tell of [those?] great mountains - was a little disappointed that you made no mention of your long journey [strong?] to Siberia to Vladovostok, as I am very desirous of knowing what kind of a country the R R passes through, but that can wait till I see you, which will probably not be long now.We are planning to leave here in about 10 days for Coronado Cal, where we expect to spend a month. Then go to Pasadena (Hotel G[illegible]) for a few weeks, then north to San Francisco, stopping about a week each at Santa Barbara & Monterey - will let you know when we reach San Francisco-Have delayed writing before as I did not know where to address you, so waited till I thought you would surely be home, and until we made up our minds whether we would go to Cal or not Fay joins me in love to you all sincerely yours A H.
