January 6, 1905.Mr. Jno. Muir,Martinez Calif. Dear Sir:- We are delighted that there is a hope of a "Red Wood" article from you. May I ask if we might have a chance at the serial publication of your present book?-But I dare say we are late in asking such a question, and that another has stepped down before us. If you find it in your heart to send us note, on any Forestry matter which should be noted in the brief editorial paragraphs, which we are to have in the magazine, we should appreciate it greatly. I cannot help taking this opportunity to thank you, on my own behalf, for a great deal of intense enjoyment. Your "National Park," was one of the few books which were my boon companions during a long four years illness, when one had to take trees and sunshine and all the out-door blessings by proxy. I dare say too, that I have the distinction of being the one reader who has really shed tears over this same "National Parks,"-because my heart action was at the time so useless that I knew I could never stand the altitude of those delectable mountains! Sincerely yours, [illegible] Associate Editor. 03501
