Thursday Morning
Dear Wanda, We have just reached Wilcox Arizona, came over the desert yesterday and crossed the Colorado at [ ]. Tell mama the end of the bridge on the side stands our own old camp. The old fort looks just the same as in 49. The railroad from the river runs in a different direction from our old road, so the country is all new to me. It is a perfect desert. I would not give our little valley for the whole of it. Will arrive at El Paso at 1 today. Weather very hot but [ ] and I enjoy it. The yucca grows everywhere, but is small and out of bloom. A glorious sunset last evening sure seemed to sink down into the place. Tell Lilian I will write her card tomorrow. It was too bad about the mistake with papas cards. Am feeling very well.
