is thriving finely Mrs Reid was up too and Hendry & Duncan, who missed you boys much I guess for they had no such fun as they used to have at new year. If you have seen Mrs Parkins lately I suppose she would tell you we had twice a visit from her while she was up this way she seems to be quite a pleasant person I think, and one that will not let you weary in her company she was inquiring after you she said she had told you to come back again and as you had not come she thought you must be up here yet What do you think of the war news now, I guess you would laugh if you knew how much I am interested in Politics now if England comes in to play a part there will be some more stir among the Yankee's will ther not but I suppose you don't take up your mind much about such things Chemistry and all the angles will put such things fairly in the shade do I guess right tell me I will send you two pieces of poetry tell me what you think of themNow now John I want you to tell me all about what you are studying and how you are getting along with them all and all about yourself Remember it interests me mu[illegible] writing you a happy new year happier than the last I remain your loving sister S.
