June 25th, 1863.Dear Brother Cornelius, I desire to introduce to you, the [illegible], Mr. John Muir, a young gentleman who has been attending the University of Wisconsin, located here, & who expects next term to connect himself with the Univeri- sity in Ann A[illegible]. You will find in him the highest modesty, united with the most excellent moral & Christian character; also mechanical genius of a very high order. He is here greatly esteemed & I know you will gladly endeavor to render his stay in your city pleasant & profitable. He will be able to give you information concerning06079
