[First draft of letter,in note-book][January,1903][Possibly to Mr.A.H.Payson]About a month ago the Century Co. wrote me that the Santa Fe" liked my article in the November number of the Century Magazine on the Colorado Cañon, and had requested permission to publish it in pamphlet form. They asked if I saw any objection to their acceding to this request, and I replied that the more widely it was published the better, and that I wished only to retain the copyright. I have not heard anything farther on the matter. If your Co. should publish it I should like to see the proof sheets before it goes into pamphlet. Can you give me the name and address of the Superintendent of Publication?[John Muir]
