[A. H.] Sellers
The greatest of our side excursions was one about 3000 miles long from the main line at Moscow thro. the Crimea along the Black Sea to Botoum, thence to Barjom in the grand Ante Caucasus & thence into & across the still grander main range with its many glaciers & nobly sculptured peaks from 15000 to over 18000 feet high We crossed from Tiflis to Vladivoscaz by the Dariel Pass & enjoyed VladovostokAug. 19 1903.My dear Sellers:I hope you are again quite well. How often on this long trip Ive wished you were my companion. It has been very interesting, all of it, far more so than the books I had read made me expect. And had we come through without making such excursions it would have been easy. As it was, most of the trip was very hard, very dirty & very fam[illegible]ish.
