UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIAOFFICE OF THE PRESIDENTBerkeley, March 17, 1903.My dear Mr. Muir:—President Roosevelt during his visit in California will take four days to get a glimpse of the Yosemite region. I want him to get as much out of the days as possible, and I shall hope to effect arrangements whereby he may see the mountains in company with some who know and love them best, such as young LeConte, William Keith, and yourself. If the arrangements can be made, will it be possible for you to be in the Yosemite from say May 15th to 20th? I write in order that you may not allow any other engagements to establish precedence.Very faithfully yours,Benj. I. WheelerMr. John Muir,Martinez,California.03185
