Dear Sir:Bayley and Robinson have been in to talk about the depredations in Yosemite Valley. Robinson as usual is very much excited. It looks very much as if the Sierra Club would be drawn into the contest one way or the other. That is to say, inaction on our part nay be taken as evidence that there is no substantial foundation for the complaint made against the Commissioners. If the Commissioners are a one-tenth part as bad as their accusers say, the Club ought to take action against them. The travel to the Yosemite Valley is no doubt closed for the season, therefore it would be a good time to go up there to examine and report what foundation there is for the statements that the Valley is being barbarously treated so far as its flora is concerned. Suppose you and Bayley and some one else, say McAllister, from the Club go. what should be done is to make a careful examination and make out a statement as to the result of that examination. The action of the Club based upon such an examination by its President and Directors would carry great weight with the people.Yours truly, (Signed) WARREN OLNEY
