- if she had gone west instead of north last Spring it would have been better for her – as she came home from the north much worse than when she away Mary has had a sore trial on account of Whelers illness – although he is now nearly well Neither David nor Katie has been very well lately, Katie has been sick for a week, but is now getting well – and David continues going to the store if he is able to stand [it?] – Celia G. is in Portage and goes to school and is generally with me over night How many changes time brings to us – in looking –- back to the time you wrote about – when there were ten of us besides hired help every day and now here I sit alone but I am not lonesome – I seem to be surrounded with every blessing and many comforts – much more than I could have expected or deserved David is very kind and is always ready to assist me in more ways than I can tell of – besides one visit every week I was sorry after Annie left home that I had not sent some present to the children – so I now inclose this small bill\ so you or
