Oakland Cal Dec 20th 1883 –Prof Muir My Dear SirMy report is all ready to be returned, and I only await your article [too?]. Send it on its way. I am in receipt of a letter from the Hon. [Sed?] in which he says he will see [that?] it is printed as soon as it returns to Washington. I hope to be in Martinez between Christmas and New Years, and if you can have it ready by that time I shall be under [many?] obligations. Dont forget to copy some of your glacier sketches, as many as you can spare, and some sketches of the plants also. I have heard nothing from my iapplication?] to go to Greenland but see by this mornings paper that Genl. Hagen says – [there?] [illegible] vessels will be sent.
