[1] Portage Feb 1st 1878. Dear Danl & Emma. I hope you and the children are well, and hope you are both passing down the stream of time happily and profitably – Since you were here, I have often wished to know how you all were – and if your being from home caused you much discomfort or inconvenience – Mary is still with us and is very busy with crayon work – for a few days I have been at Sarahs home, and I enjoyed my visit – John Reid has changed his mind about going west this month, he thinks he will go -
