00959 [1][letterhead] New York, Nov 22 1880Dear Mr MuirI very much fear that unless I have something [more?] than already recd for aid [in?] illustrating your article upon Rocky Mountain Sheep – the pictures will be a failure. Can you not assist me a little? Are there no plants to be procured or sketches more than these in [M?] S S. The head & leaves of the animal are so peculiar that I should wish to make an effective drawing of the head alone – but I have nothing to make it from. I have written Mr 00959 [2][letterhead] New York, 188Mr Elliott of the Smithsonian Institute and may perhaps get something from him – but I think it doubtful. What I need is a good photo of a head – something which I could give to an artist as a[illegible]. As the article is down on my list for May and would therefore need to be complete by Feb 25th you will see that there is no time to loose. Pray if in your power assist me and confer a favor uponYours Sincerely A. W.[illegible] Drake
