[4]do not know whether I will ever come out or not. if my ship comes in pretty well [illegible] I may come. David and I have a little interest in some of the mines in Colorado that is proving to all accounts of paying us something for our money how much we do not know at present. There is many a slip between the cup and the lip it may be so in this case. however if that fails I may get a mine in those cattle that I have out here in Neb[illegible]. Dan is about 20 miles from us he left Racine in regard to his health has bought 320 acres of R.R land on time do not know how well he will succeed one thing I do know he has got [in margin: to do different to what he has been doing. he will learn, now John I have written quite a number of lines more than I [expected?] give my respect to Mrs Muir hoping to see you both out here in Neb before long your brother [Jno?] Reid][1]Crete Neb Dec 13 – 1880Brother JohnDear SirMaggie handed me your letter to post while on the way to the office I thought I would write a line or two in regard to her.
