William and Maymie Kimes Annotation
Originally bound in red, Scrapbook I was deteriorating; in order to preserve it, the pages were removed from the binding and filed in folders. Scrapbook I contains 41 newspaper articles, mainly those written about Alaska in 1879 and 1880. In addition, there are two letters and reports of three lectures and six interviews. Clippings are included on a variety of other subjects, such as: Alaska, Yosemite, conservation, writers, mountains, and mountaineering, as well as notices of family illnesses, death, and funerals.
