William and Maymie Kimes Annotation

In the regular column entitled ""Art Notes,'' Muir states: ""The picture is a bold, outspoken manifestation of the sublimest attributes of the Sierras [sic], and stands alone among what has been heretofore accomplished as a kind of inspired bible of mountains."" Following a description of the scene painted, Muir concludes that ""true artists like sunshine belong to all the world! Thanks for Keith and his color."" For a reprint see no. 392C.
