not saved, it will not be because anything remains for God to do. The plan of salvation is complete. His sermon was very short. Ada is today twenty two months old, weighs twenty four pounds and has all her teeth but two. She talks very well - will repeat long sentences which she hears, and is very active. Luther is now three and one-half years old. He is a very thoughtful child and has a remarkable memory for one so young. One day when I was writing. Ada was dodging about and hitting my elbow, so as to trouble me considerably. Luther said," Does Ada trouble you, mamma."? When I said yes, he said." Come Ada, play with me." Another day he lay down in the bedroom to take a nap in the day time. Ada wished to lie on the same pillow with him, which troubled him. He commenced to push her away, which I told him he must not do. He then said, "Ada, go ask mamma for some cake," and as soon as she had gone he shut the door quickly. He has learned this trick from the boys who have sometimes used the some means to get rid of his company. (T.S.R. 48. 2 P.M. 73. S.S. 65.) Oct. 17. Monday. I have today written to Mother Locke. The subjects of my letter were - Health of all - Children - Apples - Answer to question concerning where the marriage took place. (T.S.R. 37. 2 P.M. 78. S.S. 69.) Oct. 18. Tuesday. Susie came over and stopped a few minutes this morning. (T.S.R. 43. 2 P.M. 80. S.S. 74.) Oct. 19. Wednesday. This morning we received the N. E. mail. Brother John is three years old. Our little Howard is three months old today and weighs sixteen and one-half pounds. He is the size that Luther was at his age and seems much as Luther did, only that he makes rather more noise, not crying, but cooing and talking the baby language. He laughs aloud, and seems to try to get hold of things a little. He is such a good, quiet child, I can but love him. He has but little hair now. (T.S.R. 49. 2 P.M. 87. S.S. 77.) Oct. 20. Thursday. Pleasant weather. (T.S.R. 51. 2 P.M. 80. S.S. 69.) Oct. 21. Friday. Father has been out riding today, and as he returned, he stopped here and said I could ride with him to the Ranch if I wished. It was very near sunset and not a good time for me to leave, but taking the baby and leaving Luther and Ada with George, I went. When we arrived there, we found that Susie and Aunt had gone to pick grapes, but they soon came, and after doing my errand, Father brought me home again. Found Mr. Boody here waiting to see Dr. who was absent. He took tea with us. Mr. Holman also made us a short call. He says he hears his family are now well. (T.S.R. 47. 2 P.M. 81. S.S. 74.) Oct. 22. Saturday. Paul Dennis left work here this morning after breakfast and departed. Mr. Henry Megerle died this morning. (T.S.R. 47. 2 P.M. 82. S.S. 67.) Oct. 23. Sabbath. We have had showers today. The funeral of Mr. Megerle was attended at his house. As Dr. was very busy attending the sick, I could not go. Robert went, and says Mr. Carnduff officiated. Towards night, Mrs. Warren passed in a wagon with Messrs. Butler and Montgomery, bound homeward. She said she had just received intelligence that her husband was sick at home and could not come out for her. She feared he was very sick, and thought she must get home as soon as possible. (T.S.R. 51. 2 P.M. 73. S.S. 63.) Oct. 24. Monday. This morning, went with Dr. to see Mrs. Klonker, who has just had a still born babe. It was a little girl of good size. It is to be buried today. Mr. Bruce took tea with us, after which Dr. went with him to consult with Susie relative to her taking charge of little Daniel, whose mother is dead. (T.S.R. 52. 2 P.M. 79. S.S. 73.)
