Abstract/Artist Statement
A Lover’s Choice is about a young woman named Mary and her boyfriend, Jason who, at first, are enjoying their relationship. When Mary comes to Jason’s apartment for a surprise visit, she finds out that he has been seeing someone else. Jason breaks up with Mary, which makes her feel sad and depressed for a few days, until she bumps into another young man, Tom, who notices that she is upset. Later on, they are seen hanging out together, mostly as friends, and they begin to develop feelings for each other. When Jason comes to see Mary and asks her to take him back, she has to make a choice between the two men since she also has feelings for Tom.
I have not experienced any type of love relationship before, but I know what it is like to make a difficult choice. Most of the time, I would watch these situations from TV shows, which give a lot of deep emphasis on how these characters want their lives to be. This is a very common experience that most people can relate to as they try to think about the other person’s happiness, as well as their own. It is often a difficult decision because this also means that they are sacrificing either a perfect past or a possible future. What I want people to get from this film is that they are not always alone and it is easy to move on once they are open to what their heart says. A break-up can be painful, as people tend to think there is only one person who has brought them happiness, but that is not always the case. When they become more open to any possibilities, it helps them forget about a few of their unhappy memories and be able to create new happier ones.
