May 7th, 1908.To the Editor "Collier's Weekly",#416 West -13th St., New York City. Dear Sir:-Aa a citizen of San Francieoo, and thoroughly conversant with the various phases of the water queetion now agitating this city, and being satisfied of the utter needlesoness of this meditated assault on the property of the people of the entire nation, I throughly approve of your editorial in April 3i3th issue of your "Weekly". As I am travelling about a good deal, am not entered on your list as a subscriber, but from now on, shall i u c it a make it a point to procure your paper from the stands, and will continue to do so so long as you take tho enlightened stand you do on questions of national importance, and as protecting the general interests of the whole people, rather than the interests of corporations, individuals or localities.There is no question but that there is untold water supply without encroaching on this small National Park in high Sierra. It appears to me rather a desire on the part of certain citizens of this city to appropriate not so much the water as the water power that may be developed in this Park, and coin it into dollars to flow into the coffers of an already wealthy city. I might say however, that were the many really good men who at present advocate this enoroaohment, to. be really informed as to the absolute ultimate truth of the entire question, they would, as earnestly as I do, protest06249
