65[letterhead]Oct 17 1898My dear Johnson.I am now making a little lonely raid northward to see the woods before the autumn tints fade. I left Boston this morning & expect to be in Montreal tomorrow morning return by Champlain & Lake George thence make a run through the White Mtns & back to Boston next Monday or so - Had a grand time in the southern woods our south most point was Tuscaloosa Alabama - I meant to stop at N.Y. on our way back but was told to hurry north to see the woods in glory have not yet seem any of
