On September 29, 1873, after a long excursion, Muir stopped for the night at La Casa Nevada, situated below Nevada Falls. In the guest register he describes the panoramic view from Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome, where the paths of the great glaciers that carved the valley can easily be traced. The register is in the archives of Yosemite National Park.
