After the passage of the main glacier of Tenaya in the direction of the arrows there seems to have been some lingering ice wh [which] flowed downwards eroding shallow groove channels in the direction of steepest [declivity] & even before the total recession of the main gl [glacier], there would probably be a wing shaped ice slope [seamed] probably in the shadow which with slow action [would] eroded the upper portion of the dome. All of the rocks forming the south walls of the deep Yosemite Canons in their [many] [forms] show more or less sculpting of this light after action. Half Dome N [north] face. From A to B the height is nearly 1800 feet from A to the foot of rock at Mirror Lake about 3000. This upper portion is very nearly vertical. The lower slopes to the Lake at an angle of 37 [degrees] [ ] & D are sharp roof shaped rocks forming a portion of the [ ] Half Dome rock. Along the base of the vertical portion of [the] [ ] are stumps of slabs wh [which] have been broken off the vertical [front] at E & F are the edges of [slabs] the same slabs. Thus in this one rock mass we have all of the principal forms of Dome & peak with the various conditions of cleavage planes necessary to their productions. At the summit we have the vert [vertical] planes wh [which] gave rise to the face A B cut by the curved flakes wh [which] gave rise to the dome outline B b From A downwards we have the sloping clvg [cleaveage] wh [which] gave rise to & measured the [ ] of it’s face. A & C & D we [ ] the peak [outline] by the better [ ] of [the] two [ ] oblique [ ] any
