In the fall of 1869 John Muir began his fulltime life in Yosemite Valley where he rebuilt and ran a sawmill for James Hutchings. He made his own cabin by Yosemite Creek and guided hotel guests on hikes. He built this cabin with the stream running through it where he admired the sounds of water flow and frogs that would pass through at night.
