Camping with Roosevelt

John Muir, President Theodore Roosevelt, Presidential Secretary William Loeb, California Governor George Pardee, and California University President Benjamin Wheelervisited the Mariposa Grove at the beginning of the famed three-day Muir-Roosevelt camping trip in May of 1903. Partially because of this camping trip, Roosevelt signed the 1905 Recession Legislation that transfer Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove to the federal government.
