Meaford, Canada

John Muir’s journey led him to Meaford, Canada in 1863. He applied his talent as an inventor at the Trout family sawmill and increased their productivity significantly. After he left, Muir maintained correspondence with owner William Trout for years. His passion for nature can be seen beginning to flourish, as his drawing incorporates the Trout House into the Ontario wilderness. He drew this drawing of their home.
