Abstract

Use of mobile technology is increasing in schools for teaching and learning. One-to-one programs, in which each student has a mobile device, have been found to promote learning in certain contexts. In this presentation, we discuss a mixed-methods case study design including examining the individual student, technological, and environmental factors that may impact successful implementation of one-to-one programs. We will also discuss key software tools for analyzing multiple forms of data. We outline key factors that may enhance the effectiveness of the program including student learning, promotion of higher-order thinking skills, and social-emotional outcomes for general and high-needs learners.
